Best Buy to Cut 300 Jobs At Headquarters

5 Apr, 2006 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Big box retailer Best Buy Co. announced it would trim 300 positions at its Richfield, Minn.-based headquarters as part of an overall reduction in general administrative expenses, even after posting a fourth-quarter profit.

The move is reportedly part of the company's strategy to focus on local markets and out-of-store customer service, including The Geek Squad and home theater installers.

“The goal is to invest in places that we know are going to grow the business,” spokesperson Dawn Bryant told MarketWatch.
