Time Warner Buys 10% Stake in Hulu for $583 Million

As expected, Time Warner has acquired a 10% minority stake in Hulu, the subscription streaming service co-owned by The Walt Disney Co., 21st Century Fox and Comcast. The $583 million investment values Hulu at about $5.8 billion — reportedly three-times what it was worth in 2012.

DreamWorks Animation Returns to Profitability

DreamWorks Animation, which has been acquired by Comcast pending regulatory approval, Aug. 3 reported second-quarter (ended June 30) profit of $2.3 million, compared with a loss of $38.5 million during the previous-year period. Revenue topped $220 million, compared with more than $170 million a year ago.
