Major League Baseball Productions, the in-house TV and video production division of Major League Baseball, has signed a multi-year agreement with QVC's Q Video todistribute and market all MLB Productions' home video products.
The deal marks the first line launched under QVC's newly formed home video label -- Q Video -- and represents the first step by the new company to forge a presence in home video. All Q titles will be distributed to retail through WEA, AOL Time Warner's music and video distribution division.
The agreement includes all new VHS and DVD releases as well as MLB Productions' existing 100-plus title catalog.
QVC will promote and sell selected titles on air -- with ballplayers appearing onthe network as well as through live remote broadcasts at key events during the 2001 season. Product will also be promoted on the Internet throughboth QVC's and MLB's highly trafficked websites -- www.qvc.com andwww.mlb.com. Additional exposure for the line will be generated throughQVC's extensive direct marketing efforts.
In addition to TheOfficial 2000 World Series Home Video and the recently released video Hitters on Hitting: Finding the Sweet Spot, Q Video will release additional titles throughout the year, including the Official2001 World Series Home Video.
