Baker & Taylor To Fulfill Buy.com Wishes

Online retailer Buy.com has partnered with wholesaler Baker & Taylor to fulfill its entertainment orders for video, music and books.

The agreement, effective immediately, will allow Buy.com to offer a broader selection and guarantee shipment in 24 to 48 hours.

Scott Blum, Buy.com founder and CEO, said he expects the deal to boost the e-tailer's customer satisfaction.

"Most of the issues that online retailer still face are sub-par customer service and getting the products to customer on time," Blum noted. "Our partnership with Baker & Taylor will only reinforce our commitment to maximizing the customer's online shopping experience."

The partnership allows Buy.com to provide a wider selection of products without owning inventory, which it will access through Baker & Taylor's proprietary database of 2.5 million book titles, 85,000 video titles and 240,000 music titles.

"Buy.com has developed a true virtual business model, making it an ideal candidate for our services," explained Ralph Mondeaux, Baker & Taylor's fulfillment services VP.
