Wholesale distributor Baker & Taylor has named a new chairman and CEO.
Effective July 7, Thomas I. Morgan will take over Baker & Taylor. Previously he was president and CEO of Hughes Supply, Inc. in Orlando, Fla.
“Tom Morgan joins Baker & Taylor with a strong background as a leader of some of the country's largest and best recognized distribution businesses, which will enhance our senior management and allow us to accelerate our strategic plans,” said Gary Appel, vice chairman of equity firm Castle Harlan Inc., which owns the controlling interest in Baker & Taylor.
While Morgan was in charge at Hughes, the company saw sales rise from $3 billion to $5.3 billion. Home Depot acquired the company in 2006. Before Hughes, Morgan was CEO of U.S. Office Products Company, and spent 22 years with Genuine Parts Company.
