Paramount Home Entertainment today announced its 2007 high-definition slate would bow with seven-time Golden Globe nominee Babel, starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett.
The movie about an American couple befallen by tragedy while on vacation in Morocco will be released Feb. 20 on HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc for $42.99, and on standard DVD for $29.99.
Paramount, which is a supporter of both formats, didn't disclose the bonus material for the acclaimed film from director Alejandro González Iñárritu.
Upcoming Blu-ray and HD DVD titles include Golden Globe nominated director Clint Eastwood's Flags Of Our Fathers, a special collector's edition of Face/Off (1997) from director John Woo and the director's cut of Payback: Straight Up with Mel Gibson.
Flags Of Our Fathers Feb. 6 streets on standard DVD for $29.99.
Payback features new bonus material, including a behind-the-scenes look at director Brian Helgeland's vision for the 1999 action drama that grossed more than $80 million at the box office.
“The strong sales for high-definition televisions during the holiday season mean that consumers will be seeking more high-definition content in the coming year,” said Kelley Avery, president of worldwide home entertainment, Paramount Pictures. “In 2007 we plan to support the HD DVD landscape with an array of critically-acclaimed and fan-favorite films to further excite consumers about the possibilities of high-definition in their homes.”
