The average price of technology products was down during August, according to the latest NPD Consumer Electronics Price Watch from research firm The NPD Group.
Compared to the same period last year, August prices for the group of products sampled were down 16 percent.
While there was a 2 percent overall decline from July to August this year, the price of a basic DVD player fell 16 percent from July levels, to $46.61, and progressive-scan DVD player prices were down slightly more than 5 percent, according to NPD.
Home theater all-in-one system prices hiked 8 percent, to a little more than $300, and up $22 from July, for the sharpest percentage increase of any product in the basket.
