Arts Alliance America Distributes Sundance Channel Films20 Dec, 2007 By: Chris Tribbey
Arts Alliance America and Sundance Channel have inked a distribution deal. The first two films Arts Alliance will distribute out of Sundance's library will be Big Ideas for a Small Planet, a 13-part documentary, and the eight-part miniseries “Nimrod Nation,” which focuses on the loves — hunting and basketball — of the residents of the small Michigan town Watersmeet.
“It is an honor to act as the home video distribution arm for Sundance Channel, which is such a highly respected and recognized supporter of independent programming,” said Arts Alliance president Joe Amodei. “This arrangement, building on the success of our prior relationship, should result in a partnership that is both exiting and rewarding.”
“Pushing Sundance Channel content out to audiences on a variety of platforms is key to our business strategy,” said Laura Michalchyshyn, EVP and GM of programming and creative affairs for Sundance Channel. “In the independent home video market, Joe Amodei has a reputation and a track record that is quite formidable.”
In addition to the new partnership, Arts Alliance also will reissue 28 Sundance home video properties, repriced at $14.98 each.
