AOL Users Select Must-Have DVDs

AOL Movies today announced the results of its nationwide poll on the 50 essential DVDs that should be included in the "Ultimate DVD Collection," which received more than 1.5 million votes from movie fans nationwide.

AOL Movies teamed with the editors of Entertainment Weekly to compile a list of 125 popular DVD titles in the categories of comedy, drama, family/animated, horror/sci-fi and suspense/thriller, then AOL members selected 10 must-have DVDs in each category.

"We're delighted to give our members the opportunity to create the Ultimate DVD Collection," said Steven Yee, VP and GM of AOL Movies. "With more than 1.5 million votes cast, we think the list represents the true movie fan and serves as a great guide for those who are looking to purchase the must-have DVDs for themselves or as special gifts this holiday season."

According to the poll results, the ultimate DVD collection consists of the following titles (in alphabetical order):

Comedy: Airplane, American Pie, Austin Powers: International Man ofMystery, Blazing Saddles, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Monty Pythonand the Holy Grail, National Lampoon's Animal House, Pretty Woman,There's Something About Mary and When Harry Met Sally.,

Drama: American Beauty, Apocalypse Now, Casablanca, The GodfatherParts I and II, Gone with the Wind, Pulp Fiction, Rocky, SaturdayNight Fever, The Shawshank Redemption and Titanic.

Suspense: Bonnie & Clyde, Deliverance, Die Hard, Fatal Attraction,Fight Club, The Fugitive, Goldfinger, Speed, The Usual Suspects andVertigo.

Horror/Sci-Fi: Alien, The Exorcist, Jaws, Jurassic Park, The Lordof the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Matrix, The Shining,Silence of the Lambs, The Sixth Sense and The Terminator.

Family/Animated: Beauty & the Beast, E.T.:The Extra Terrestrial,Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, It's a Wonderful Life,Monsters, Inc., Shrek, Spider-Man, Toy Story, Willy Wonka and theChocolate Factory and The Wizard of Oz.
