Anchor Bay Assembles Cast For 'Roseanne' DVD Release Party

21 Jul, 2005 By: Jessica Wolf

Anchor Bay Entertainment this week threw a star-studded event in celebration of the release of Roseanne: The Complete First Season to DVD Aug. 30.

The entire original cast — including Roseanne, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sarah Gilbert, Alicia Goranson and Michael Fishman, as well as regular guest stars like Sandra Bernhard — rolled out to bowl at Hollywood's posh Lucky Strike lanes.

“Roseanne” came to Anchor Bay as part of the Carsey Werner television productions catalog. The critically acclaimed series, which ran from 1988-1997 is the flagship of Anchor Bay's growing TV DVD catalog, which also includes another Carsey Warner series “Third Rock from the Sun.”

Two years ago, Anchor Bay had three TV DVD titles in it' coffers, Ted Green, CEO of Anchor Bay pointed out. The company's TV DVD catalog is now 20 titles strong and growing, he said. The genre has added to an overall 40 percent sales boost for Anchor Bay, Green said.

Anchor Bay was thrilled to work on the first Roseanne DVD release, he said, including interviews with the stars and creating blooper reels for the DVD.

Roseanne herself was eager to get the discs into the market. In previous interviews for Home Media Retailing, she talked about her repeated efforts to get Carsey Warner on board for a DVD release and encouraged fans to write in to the production company.

Now that it's happening, the comedienne said she is very pleased. She also said she was very happy to be surrounded once again by her former onscreen family at the DVD party.

“We're all still great friends, but we haven't all been in the same room together in years,” she said.

“It was so much fun every day to work on this great show, to be a part of this family,” she said.
