Analyst: ‘Trigger Day’ Looms for Paramount, Redbox

The long-term viability of Redbox will bear increased scrutiny in the coming weeks as at least one major studio decides whether to continue distributing titles to the $1-per-day movie DVD rental kiosk operator or opts out to pursue growing industry support for a “sales-only” window, according to an analyst.

Image Delays Loan Payment

Image Entertainment Oct. 29 said it had amended an agreement with bondholders, allowing the Chatsworth, Calif.-based distributor to delay from Oct. 30 to Nov. 15 installment of $4 million principal payment, according to a regulatory filing.

Navarre Posts Q2 Profit

Spurred by the success of its anime FUNimation Entertainment unit and the winding down of involvement in money-losing DVD distributor BCI, Navarre Corp. Oct. 29 reported second-quarter (ended Sept. 30) profit of $2.3 million compared to a loss of $44.5 million during the prior-year period.
