Amazon Urges DVD Buyers to Try Out Unbox Downloads

18 Jan, 2007 By: Jessica Wolf

Amazon is tying its Unbox video download service to the site's massive selection of DVD titles.

Throughout the month of January, when shoppers purchase a DVD at Amazon.com, they will automatically get a $1.99 rebate for the Unbox service.

Most TV show episodes on the site are priced at $1.99, which gives DVD buyers a free download.

Or, shoppers can choose to put their $1.99 toward a higher-priced video download purchase or rentals. Most feature film downloads on the site are in the $10-$15 range.

The Unbox rebate deal is good for 24 hours after the purchase of a DVD.
