18 Oct, 2006 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Amazon.com Oct. 18 announced that its Unbox digital video service would begin offering downloads of select programming — including the pilot episode of “Dexter” — from Showtime Networks, a unit of CBS Corp.

The “Dexter” pilot, about a serial killer (Michael C. Hall from “Six Feet Under”), is available through Oct. 25 for 1 cent.

Episodic programming from “The L Word,” “Weeds,” “Sleeper Cell,” “Dave Chappelle's For What it's Worth,” “Fat Actress,” “Penn & Teller: Bullsh*t!” and “Free for All” are available for $1.99 each.

“Showtime is always looking for creative new ways to bring our great original series to a larger audience,” said Robert Hayes, SVP and GM of Showtime.
