Alliance Will Manage Walgreens

7 Jul, 2005 By: Holly J. Wagner

Distribution and fulfillment company Source Interlink's Alliance Entertainment division will handle selection, in-store marketing, merchandising and fulfillment of all CDs and DVDs carried in 2,500 Walgreens stores under a new deal, launching a new product line for the drugstore chain. The deal will put music and movies into about half of Walgreens' U.S. stores.

Alliance will evaluate sales data and make ordering and restocking decisions for Walgreens using its vendor-managed inventory system.

Product rollout began in mid-June and should be completed soon. The Walgreens and Alliance Entertainment deal is separate from Source Interlink's existing relationships with Walgreens, including a range of in-store services and magazine and book distribution.
