Distributor Alliance Entertainment Corp. has appointed Alan Tuchman president and COO and board chairman Tony Schnug Interim CEO, succeeding Eric Weisman, who is headed to the helm of Musicland.

"We are delighted to have Alan in this position," Schnug said. "Alan has played an integral role in our current success and is an obvious choice to assume these responsibilities. His leadership, experience and knowledge of the industry uniquely equips him to direct the company through the next stage of growth and success."

In 12 years at Alliance, Tuchman served as president of the Distribution and Fulfillment Services Group and as EVP. He has been responsible for all aspects of distribution and fulfillment including sales, marketing, procurement, distribution and information technology.

"I am pleased to assume this role at Alliance," he said. "Alliance is a leader in the distribution of home entertainment products with significant opportunities for growth. I am excited to work with Tony Schnug and the members of the management team to continue to build upon our successful strategic programs and further strengthen our business."

Weisman, who has led Alliance since 1997, has accepted the position of CEO at Musicland Holding Corp.

"Eric has been a great steward of the company. His contributions to Alliance are respected by his colleagues and by the industry. We wish Eric every success and look forward to continuing our relationship with him in his new capacity at Musicland," said Ron Burkle, managing partner of Alliance controlling shareholder The Yucaipa Companies.

"I have enjoyed my tenure with Alliance and have been fortunate to oversee the significant growth that it has experienced," Weisman said. "I feel I have positioned the company to successfully capitalize on evolving trends within the dynamic home entertainment space. I look forward to continuing my involvement with Alliance as one of its trading partners."
