Alliance Atlantic, Arclight Form Union

4 May, 2006 By: Jessica Wolf

Canada's Alliance Atlantic Motion Picture Distribution and Australia's Arclight Films have joined to form Union Station Media.

Union Station will be a U.S.-based company led by Paul Gardner, formerly acquisitions executive for Lionsgate and previous VP of Artisan Entertainment.

The company's goal is to acquire U.S. DVD, TV, cable, Internet, VOD, PPC and electronic sellthrough distribution rights to new films.

Union Station already has three films in it's roster — drama Three Sisters, starring Maria Bello, Mary Stuart Masterson, Eric McCormack and Chris O'Donnell; teen skateboarding feature Deck Dogz, starring Tony Hawk; and the documentary Dan Aykroyd Unplugged in UFO.

Company executives will be at the forthcoming Cannes Film Festival, looking to acquire more titles. Initial plans are to develop a 12- to 18-title annual release slate, according to the company.
