Akimbo to Release VOD Content on AT&T Set-top Box

8 Jan, 2007 By: Jessica Wolf

Akimbo Systems, early entrant into Internet-video movie content delivery, has inked a partnership with AT&T Inc. to release content through the AT&T HomezoneSM set-top box.

The box, released in 2006, integrates AT&T Yahoo High Speed Internet Access, AT&T DISH Network satellite television and the AT&T Home Networking services in a single unit.

Now Homezone owners will also have access to Akimbo's catalog of digital video-on-demand content. Akimbo has films and TV programs from more than 150 mainstream and niche content providers.

This October, Akimbo teamed with Movielink to offer Akimbo subscribers access to feature film content from major studios. At the same time, the company released its own new set-top box, the RCA Akimbo player.
