24 Jul, 2007 By: Chris Tribbey

MobiTV is getting A&E and History Channel content.

A&E Television Networks (AETN) is going mobile.

An agreement with MobiTV Inc., A&E Mobile and The History Channel Mobile will be made available to MobiTV's wireless subscribers.

“The mobile platform is an increasingly important interactive screen that provides our consumers with access to our branded programming wherever and whenever they want it, and we are pleased to partner with MobiTV to offer A&E Mobile and The History Channel Mobile to viewers,” said AETN SVP of digital media Paul Jelinek. “These mobile channels enable us to offer a new service to our existing audience, and through cross promotion, to bring new viewers back to our linear channels.”

MobiTV VP of content and programming Jeff Bartee said: “MobiTV and AETN continue to be proactive in bringing more compelling content into the mobile space. As the rise in consumer demand for mobile video continues, so do expectations for great content on mobile television services. Our relationship with AETN is proof that we are listening to and answering the call of those consumers.”

AETN and MobiTV had previously agreed in 2006 to bring The History Channel in Spanish to MobiTV Spanish language subscribers. AETN channels The History Channel, A&E, The Biography Channel, Crime & Investigation Network, History International and Military History Channel are also available through MobiTV's broadband TV service.
