22 May, 2006 By: Erik Gruenwedel

The adult film Pirates is putting its clothes back on.

A heavily edited version of the top-selling and decorated adult film — with a reported seven-figure special-effects-laden budget — received an ‘R' rating from the Motion Picture Association of America, becoming the first adult movie to successfully cross over to mainstream distribution.

MTI Home Video July 11 will street Pirates on DVD for $24.95; prebook is June 20. The DVD will feature the film in 16:9 widescreen format and 5.1 digital surround sound, plus a visual effects featurette, bloopers, trailer and optional Spanish subtitles.

The film features adult stars Jesse Jane, Carmen Luvana, Janine, Teagan Presley, Devon, Austyn Moore, Jenaveve Jolie, Tommy Gunn, Evan Stone, Steven St. Croix, Scott Nails and Kris Slater.

Originally released by Digital Playground as an adult film in 2005, Pirates won 29 awards, including 11 at the 2006 AVN Awards.

Filmed in high-definition on location in California and Florida, Pirates features deadly swordplay against CGI skeleton warriors, explosive sea battles and more than 300 special effects.
