The Bucket List
Warner Home Video's The Bucket List was the top video seller and rental the week ended June 15, while fellow new release Jumper, from 20th Century Fox, topped the Blu-ray Disc sales chart.
The Bucket List, a comedy that generated lots of pre-Oscar buzz and a tidy $93.5 million at the box office, debuted at No. 1 on both the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart and Home Media Magazine's video rental chart.
Jumper, a sci-fi actioner with $79.9 million in theatrical receipts, bowed at a close No. 2 on the sales chart, selling 88% as many units as The Bucket List. The film also debuted at No. 2 on the rental chart, generating 91.5% as much action at the rental counter as the Warner comedy.
Two other new releases debuted in the First Alert top 10: Sony Pictures' The Other Boleyn Girl, a historical drama, at No. 4, and HBO's critically hailed John Adams miniseries at No. 5.
The Other Boleyn Girl, which made $26.8 million at the box office, also scored big with renters, debuting at No. 6 on the Home Media Magazine chart.
Several older releases continued to maintain steady sales. Two Paramount “Indiana Jones” DVDs, Raiders of the Lost Ark (No. 7) and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (No. 9), remained in the First Alert top 10 five weeks after their re-release, which coincided with the theatrical debut of the new “Indiana Jones” movie. So did Indiana Jones: The Adventure Collection (No. 8), a boxed set with all three earlier films.
