Netflix has updated its application for the Xbox 360, allowing users to browse for titles and play them using the Kinect voice and motion controller, view more titles on a single screen, and watch some titles in 720p with Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.

The update also allows users to display three related titles at the end of a movie and control ratings, subtitles and audio settings while content is playing.

“For the first time, the Netflix interface on Xbox has been created entirely by Netflix, offering a unique member experience,” said Neil Hunt, chief product officer at Netflix. “The new Netflix interface provides the best experience for watching TV shows and movies on Xbox, with significant improvements in browsing titles and a richer playback experience together with voice and gesture interactions.”

Netflix also announced Dec. 7 that subscribers in Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico now can access Netflix on their Xbox 360 systems. Netflix plans on expanding to the United Kingdom and Ireland in early 2012.
