Netflix Streams Final Season of ‘Breaking Bad’ … in the U.K.12 Nov, 2012 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Netflix subscribers looking to get a head start on the fifth and final season of AMC Networks’ critically acclaimed “Breaking Bad” and theatrical release 21 Jump Street should look overseas.
The Los Gatos, Calif.-based subscription video-on-demand pioneer Nov. 12 said it has begun offering initial episodes of the final season of “Bad,” along with theatrical reboot Jump Street, animated comedy Chicken Run, Jim Carey-starrer Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events and complete seasons of “White Collar,” among others, to subscribers in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
“For the uninitiated, what better time than now to start watching the show The Observer calls, ‘the best American drama series you’ve never seen,’” David Lee, director of content, responsible for licensing content in the United Kingdom and Ireland, said in a statement. “We should warn you though that once you start, there’s very little chance of kicking the habit.”
The programming is not yet available to subscribers in the United States and Canada due to mandated release windows and distribution agreements between Netflix and studios.
