Netflix July 1 said it signed a multi-year streaming deal with 20th Century Fox Television for back seasons of “New Girl,” the Golden Globe-nominated comedy starring Zooey Deschanel.

Beginning today, Netflix subscribers have unlimited access to first-season episodes, with subsequent seasons available a year after initial broadcast.

“'New Girl' has proven to be the biggest breakout sitcom hit of the season and we are thrilled to be able offer it so quickly to our U.S. subscribers,” said Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos. “We know our members love comedies and that they'll enjoy watching all the current and future episodes of 'New Girl' whenever and wherever they want.”

Recently renewed for a third season, "New Girl" is a comedy series from executive producer and writer Liz Meriwether (No Strings Attached), centering on an offbeat girl Jess (Deschanel), who, after a bad breakup, moves in with three single guys, changing all their lives in an unexpected way. The ensemble comedy struck a chord early on with viewers with its fresh look at modern relationships.

The show is produced by Chernin Entertainment, whose CEO, Peter Chernin, was a former executive at Fox parent News Corp.

“We are delighted that Netflix viewers will now have the opportunity to enjoy this remarkable comedy,” said Gina Brogi, EVP of worldwide pay-television and subscription-on-demand with Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution. “As a leader in digital distribution, Netflix is an important partner for us. We are thrilled to continue building our relationship with them.”
