Netflix Feb. 5 said it signed a first-look distribution agreement with Flavor Unit Entertainment, a production company co-owned by actress and hip-hop artist Queen Latifah.

Netflix’s subscription video-on-demand members beginning in the spring will have access to catalog titles, including Bringing Down the House and Beauty Shop, and new releases House of Bodies, starring Terrence Howard and Peter Fonda, and Percentage, starring Ving Rhames, Cam'ron and Macy Gray.

"Queen Latifah has a long track record of creating hits, and Flavor Unit Entertainment is a fresh and exciting voice in the industry,” Ted Sarandos, chief content officer of Netflix, said in a statement.

Flavor Unit most recently produced the Lifetime Original Movie Steel Magnolias, starring Queen Latifah, Phylicia Rashad, Jill Scott and Alfre Woodard, which became the third most-watched telecast ever on a network, with 6.5 million viewers.

“Netflix is such a strong brand and the perfect place to showcase our projects," Latifah said in a statement.
