27 Jun, 2011 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Netflix and Well Go USA June 27 said they have entered into a multiyear distribution deal that allows Netflix subscribers to stream new and catalog Asian action movies.

Plano, Tex.-based Well Go features a catalog of more 2,000 titles, including Ip Man, Ip Man 2, Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen and The Man from Nowhere. Upcoming new releases include Little Big Soldier, written by and starring Jackie Chan, with Leehom Wang and Rongguang Yu, and A Better Tomorrow, executive produced by John Woo and starring Jin-mo Ju and Kang-woo Kim.

“This new agreement fits our expanding digital strategy and ensures our top Asian content will be exclusively available to the huge Netflix member base,” said Tony Vandeveerdonk, EVP of sales and marketing for Well Go.

Los Gatos, Calif.-based Netflix in April expanded its selection of anime titles from San Francisco-based VIZ Media.

“We’re committed to providing to our members a rich and diverse offering of TV episodes and movies from around the world,” said Lisa Nishimura, VP of content acquisition for Netflix.
