Hiring of Peter Friedlander underscores Netflix’s desire to expand original series production following “House of Cards” deal
Netflix reportedly has hired TV executive Peter Friedlander to oversee the streaming trailblazer’s foray into original serial production.
Friedlander, who was in charge of development and production with Playtone, will assist Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos in the acquisition of original serial content for the TV, according to Deadline.com, which broke the story.
Friedlander’s production credits include “Big Love,” A Bag of Hammers, My Life in Ruins and Road to Perdition, among others.
Netflix earlier this year made waves when it outbid HBO for the rights to British drama “House fo Cards,” which it is rebooting with Kevin Spacey in the lead and directed by Oscar winner David Fincher.
