Movie Gallery, along with subsidiary Hollywood Video, said it has registered more than 1 million customers since launching its PowerPlay loyalty program three months ago.

With PowerPlay, customers can rent movies and video games with no due dates and late fees, with library titles for $2, new releases for $3, Blu-ray titles for $4 and video games for $5.

To commemorate the millionth member, Wilsonville, Ore.-based Gallery selected four members who signed up simultaneously and awarded each a $1,300 home theater system, including a 46-inch high-definition LCD TV.

CEO Sherif Mityas said the No. 2 DVD rental chain would soon implement additional services targeting further membership growth.
