M-Go Launches ‘Dinner & a Download’ Promotion9 Oct, 2013 By: Chris Tribbey
M-Go, the digital entertainment service backed by Technicolor and DreamWorks Animation, launched its first original programming Oct. 9, a free, four-part series that pairs celebrity chefs with movies.
Dubbed “Dinner & a Download,” the four, 15-minute segments offer viewers custom recipes, cooking demonstrations and tips from chefs, centered around certain movies. Each episode is hosted by chef Jeffrey Saad.
“’Dinner & a Download’ is M-Go’s way of ‘eventizing’ movies, to make it easier for everyone to get back into the enjoyment of entertaining at home with great movie-inspired meals,” M-Go CEO John Batter. “We believe M-Go will become the first and last destination for all consumers’ personal entertainment experiences. More than just offering great movies and TV content, we want to make things jump off the screen and into people’s lives, which is where ‘Dinner & a Download’ comes in.”
The 15-minute segments are free downloads, though M-Go users do have to pay for the movies that go with the dishes. The segments include:
• Chef Richard Blais (winner of Bravo’s “Top Chef All-Stars”) pairs chicken dishes with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Despicable Me, Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, Moneyball and Star Trek.
• Chef Ben Sargent (host of Cooking Channel’s “Hook, Line & Dinner”) pairs lobster and chowder dishes with Cast Away, Jaws, The Perfect Storm, The Edge and The Grey.
• Chef George Duran (host of TLC’s “Ultimate Cake Off”) pairs meatball and dessert dishes with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Fight Club, Inception, Se7en and Side Effects.
• Chef Paulette Goto (contributing host of Cooking Channel’s “Unique Sweets”) pairs dessert dishes with Bridesmaids, The Devil Wears Prada, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Footloose and Silver Linings Playbook.
