Samsung Gets First Dibs on 'Hunger Games' Trailer

Samsung is getting exclusive access to the first official trailer of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1, thanks to a new partnership with Lionsgate.

Samsung will debut the trailer — via its Galaxy Tab S tablet — to fans July 25 during San Diego Comic-Con International, and at its Samsung Experience Shops in Best Buy stores nationwide July 26 and 27, before the trailer is available online.

Samsung will also hand out complimentary tickets to the film, in theaters Nov. 21, to fans who watch the trailer at Samsung Experience Shops.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering on Mockingjay with a company that has the global stature of Samsung and whose innovative technologies touch every aspect of consumers’ lives around the world,” said Paula Kupfer, SVP of consumer products and licensing at Lionsgate. “They are a perfect fit with our franchise, and together we envision unlimited opportunities for expanding the world of 'The Hunger Games' in exciting and visionary ways.”

At the Comic-Con debut, cast members from the film will introduce the trailer on the Galaxy Tab S at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego, Samsung announced. Owners of the tablet will also have exclusive access to a “Hunger Games” movie app starting July 28, via Google Play. The app offers exclusive “Hunger Games” content, including scripts, book excerpts and video clips.

Galaxy Tab S owners will also be able to download the first two “Hunger Games” films for free.

“We’re giving our consumers the unique experience to premiere the official trailer of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1 on our new Galaxy Tab S,” said Todd Pendleton, Samsung chief marketing officer. “Together with Lionsgate, we will give Samsung Galaxy owners access to experience ‘The Hunger Games’ franchise like never before.”
