Lionsgate has promoted industry vet Akin Ceylan to chief operating officer of the studio’s home entertainment group.
Ceylan has been with Lionsgate for eight years and most recently served as chief supply chain officer and EVP of operations for Lionsgate’s home entertainment group. He’ll report to Ron Schwartz, president and GM of Lionsgate sales and distribution.
“Akin has been a key contributor to our growth in recent years and, as COO of the home entertainment group, he will help guide the continued expansion of our business as we serve a broadening spectrum of traditional and digital platforms,” Schwartz said. “Akin is a superb operational strategist and consummate tactician who has built outstanding relationships with our retail and digital partners. He is ideally qualified to help us maintain our commitment to being a cutting-edge innovator in meeting the evolving needs of today's home entertainment consumer.”
Ceylan will be charged with helping Lionsgate best its No. 1 home entertainment year of all time in 2012, when The Hunger Games and “The Twilight Saga” helped propel the studio’s home entertainment revenue past $1 billion.
Prior to Lionsgate, Ceylan was SVP of domestic operations for MGM. He is currently a member of DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group’s supply chain committee.
