Lionsgate Expanding Steve Beeks’ Duties30 Jun, 2012 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Steve Beeks, president of the motion picture group at Lionsgate, is assuming expanded duties at the Santa Monica, Calif.-based mini-major with forthcoming departure of Rob McEntegart, SVP of the motion picture group, a source familiar with the situation confirmed to Home Media Magazine.
McEntegart, who joined Lionsgate in 2007 following the acquisition of Mandate Pictures (where he was EVP of business affairs), reportedly is starting his own company, First Reel Media, with a mandate to develop, finance and distribute feature films and documentaries.
At Lionsgate, McEntegart was instrumental in securing rights, actor contracts and related business aspects of film production, including recent theatrical hit The Hunger Games.
Beeks, who heads Liongate's home entertainment division as well as holding the co-chief operating officer title, is taking on some of McEntegart’s duties going forward.
“In that capacity, he will absorb some of McEntegart’s operational duties on the business side of our motion picture division,” the source said.
McEntegart follows Joe Drake, former president of the motion picture group and head of Mandate Pictures, as the second senior executive to depart following Lionsgate’s acquisition of Summit Entertainment, according to Deadline.com, which first reported the story.
