'Hannibal' Cast, Crew Tout First-Season Disc and Digital Releases25 Jul, 2013 By: Chris Tribbey
SAN DIEGO — Lionsgate will release the first season of “Hannibal” on disc and digital Sept. 24. And with featurettes titled “A Taste for Killing,” “The FX of Murder” and “A Symphony for the Slaughter,” it’s a safe bet the bonus features will prove just as thrilling and gruesome as the show itself.
Actor Hugh Dancy (Elizabeth I, “The Big C”), who plays FBI profiler Will Graham, said fans of the NBC series should also look forward to the deleted scenes, bloopers and commentaries among the bonus features for the disc releases.
“I know from first-hand experience that there are a lot of bloopers,” he joked.
Regarding the show, Dancy said the “tone of the show itself has a kind of gleeful darkness” that “balances the loyalties to the book” as well as something new.
“We knew what the large, broad strokes were for the [original novels],” said David Slade, director of several episodes in the series. “[But] the experience with TV is very unique. We have creative freedom.”
The series has been renewed for a second, 13-episode season, airing in 2014.
