Lionsgate Feb. 28 released the DVD and Blu-ray of Moonlight, which won three Academy Awards — Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor for Mahershala Ali.

Written and directed by Barry Jenkins and based on Tarell Alvin McCraney’s autobiographical play In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue, the film chronicles the life of a young black man from childhood to adulthood as he struggles to find his place in the world while growing up in a rough neighborhood of Miami.

Moonlight also won the Golden Globe® for Best Picture — Drama and was named the Best Picture of 2016 by the Gotham Awards, the Los Angeles Film Critics Association and The National Society of Film Critics, among others. The film earned a total of eight Oscar nominations, including Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Naomie Harris, Best Director, Best Original Score, Best Cinematography and Best Editing.

The Moonlight Blu-ray and DVD release special features include audio commentary with Jenkins and three behind-the-scenes featurettes — “Ensemble of Emotion: The Making of Moonlight,” “Poetry Through Collaboration: The Music of Moonlight” and “Cruel Beauty: Filming in Miami.”

The A24 film is also available on Digital HD.
