Ireland Gets DVD Kiosks

18 Jun, 2009 By: Chris Tribbey

Tesco, the United Kingdom’s largest retailer, is giving DVD rental kiosks a trial run in its Ireland stores this month.

The Movie Booth said June 18 that seven of its kiosks are in Centra, Vivo and Supervalu stores in Ireland, with 25 total expected by the end of the year. If the trial run in Wexford and Dublin Tesco stores is successful, the company said it hopes to have its kiosks in every Irish Tesco store.

“It’s proven massively popular in the U.S.A., and we hope that our recent good news will enable us to match that level of success here in Ireland,” said Carlos Marco, managing director of The Movie Booth. “We’ve been negotiating with Tesco for a while now, so naturally we’re delighted to finally get the chance to work with a retail giant.”
