Coinstar to Offer Prepaid Online Sales Cards at Kiosks

2 Jun, 2009 By: Chris Tribbey

This summer Coinstar will begin offering prepaid cards at retail kiosks for a variety of online purchases, including Facebook and MySpace applications, online gaming, virtual world item purchases and universal online purchases.

Fifteen different prepaid cards for online purchases will be made available starting at more than 500 Cumberland stores, thanks to Coinstar’s agreements with online businesses Aeria Games, Spare Change, Wild Tangent and Rixty. Coinstar aims to expand to other retailers later this year.

“Coinstar is a leading prepaid provider, and we are always striving to offer our retail customers the latest and most market-relevant products available,” said Mike Skinner, president of e-payment services and coin at Coinstar. “With our digital entertainment products and services, retailers have the opportunity to reach the younger demographic that hold the majority buying power in this high-growth online gaming market.”
