Voice of Martin Short.

Martin Short voices The Cat in the Hat in this delightful new PBS Kids animated series based on Dr. Seuss’ “The Cat in the Hat” books and the subsequent “The Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library” produced by different authors in the spirit of the original.

Now, instead of causing random chaos, Cat shows up to impart knowledge on a pair of kids named Sally and Nick, joined on their whimsical adventures by the ever-serious Fish (whom Cat constantly interrupts) and sidekicks Thing 1 and Thing 2. Each episode finds Cat and friends hopping into the shape-shifting Thinga-ma-jigger to find answers to whatever questions the kids have, with plenty of singing and dancing along the way.

The show features a sharp animation style that mimics the original Dr. Seuss illustrations.

Wings and Things contains the first five 12-minute episodes: “Show Me the Honey,” “Migration Vacation,” “I Love the Nightlife,” “Oh Give Me a Home” and “Many Ants Make Light Work.”

Extras include the trivia-laden “Fish Facts”; “Hat Chat,” in which the kids interview various characters; a series of comedic shorts called “Thing Things”; plus several standalone song segments.
