Sony Pictures Debuts 'Open Season 2'

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Jan. 27 releases Open Season 2 on DVD and Blu-ray Disc. Orders are due Dec. 25.

The animated direct-to-video sequel of the 2006 box-office hit Open Season follows the woodland animals as they battle a group of domestic pets who have kidnapped Mr. Weenie, the wiener dog, with the intention of returning him to his owners.

The family-friendly comedy showcases the voice talents of Joel McHale (“The Soup”), Mike Epps (The Honeymooners), Jane Krakowski (“30 Rock”), Billy Connolly (The X-Files: I Want to Believe), Crispin Glover (Back to the Future) and Steven Schirripa (“The Sopranos”).

The two-disc standard DVD version will be available at $28.95. Bonus features include a behind-the-scenes featurette on the making of the film, deleted scenes, an animated music video titled “Who Let the Dogs Out?” and carnival-style interactive games for kids.

The Blu-ray Disc will be available at $39.95, is BD-Live enabled and includes all the bonus features on the standard DVD as well as the exclusive game “Save Mr. Weenie!”

The film will also be released on the UMD format at $24.94.
