Owners of the Apple iPhone are six times more likely to view mobile video than a typical cell phone subscriber, according to a new report from The Nielson Co.

The research firm said iPhone users are four times more likely to use mobile Internet and six times as likely to use mobile applications. Through January, iPhone had a U.S. audience of 5.1 million unique users.

Nielsen said the global mobile Internet market grew 74% from 28.6 million in February 2007 to 49.7 million in February 2009.

Apple said the iTunes Store has sold more than 250 million TV episodes and had more than 33 million movies purchased and rented since launching movie and TV rentals/downloads in October 2005.
