Apple Dec. 13 launched its iTunes store in Brazil and 15 other Latin American countries, opening with a catalog of more than 20 million songs and thousands of movies, some in high-def.
Studios offering movies for rent or purchase include 20th Century Fox, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Universal Pictures, The Walt Disney Studios and Warner Bros. The iTunes Brazil store has songs priced at 99 cents and most albums at $9.99.
The other Latin American countries that now have iTunes include Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela.
