Inception Acquires Strategic Film Partners16 May, 2013 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Home entertainment distributor rebranding acquisition, Inception Film Partners, with a mandate to acquire up to 20 titles annually
Inception Media Group May 16 said it has acquired Strategic Film Partners and renamed it Inception Film Partners, with co-founder Alex Barder assuming the position of president of the new subsidiary.
Los Angeles-based Inception made the announcement at the Cannes Film Festival.
Barder will spearhead and manage all aspects of Film Partners’ day-to-day operations including business development, strategic planning, acquisitions, film financing and sales.
Inception Film Partners will share synergies with its parent, IMG, but will operate independently in North America, continuing to further its partnerships with studios, independent distributors and television networks.
IMG features a catalog of about 100 filmed entertainment properties and more than 2,500 hours of digital content encompassing feature films, episodic television series, documentaries and special-interest programming.
“The acquisition of Strategic further diversifies our company’s efforts and creates new revenue streams that will help drive growth,” David Borshell, co-founder of IMG, said in a statement. “Alex brings with him years of diverse industry experience and the passion and leadership necessary to not only build a bigger and more robust film sales company but also to expand all aspects of our consolidated companies.”
Borshell previously headed Image Entertainment before it was acquired by RLJ Entertainment.
