Gaiam Vivendi Inks Distribution Deal With Random Media

Random Media is a new multiplatform home entertainment content acquisition company headed by industry veteran Eric Doctorow


Gaiam Vivendi Entertainment June 4 announced a multiplatform distribution agreement with Random Media, a multimedia production and acquisition company launched by industry veteran Eric Doctorow.

A 30-year home entertainment senior executive, Doctorow most recently headed Miramax Home Entertainment following stints with 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, MGM Home Entertainment and Paramount Pictures Home Entertainment.

Among Random’s areas of content focus are genres such as faith-based films, urban action movies, as well as select independent films, lifestyle and sports franchises. The company also plans to acquire select independent films for limited theatrical release as well as films launched on digital platforms.

Random is following in the footsteps of recent home entertainment distribution startups Inception Media Group and RLJ Entertainment — the latter acquiring Image Entertainment and Acorn Media — to deliver physical and digital content, including select theatrical releases.

“[Eric’s] passion for entertainment content and his relationships with and support of its creator’s is truly inspiring, and we are committed to helping Random Media projects find their audience,” Gaiam Vivendi president Bill Sondheim said in a statement.
