Fox Yanks ‘Family Guy’ Terrorism Episode From Hulu

17 Apr, 2013 By: John Latchem

In the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings, Fox has pulled a recent terrorism-themed episode of “Family Guy” from Hulu and other online sources.

The episode, which aired March 17 and is called “Turban Cowboy,” featured a scene depicting main character Peter Griffin winning the Boston Marathon by plowing his car through a group of runners, leaving a bloody mess in his wake.

The episode’s storyline features Peter befriending a group of Muslims in Rhode Island who turn out to be part of a terror cell and recruit him. One scene (unconnected to the marathon scene) depicts Peter trying to dial his cell phone, only to inadvertently set off two bombs off screen.

The eerie similarity between the episode and real-life events inspired a viral video that claimed the show predicted the bombings by implying that Peter’s cell phone set off the marathon bombs. While sites such as YouTube began to pull down the offending video, series creator Seth MacFarlane tweeted, “The edited ‘Family Guy’ clip currently circulating is abhorrent. The event was a crime and a tragedy, and my thoughts are with the victims.”
