Family Dollar Gets Redbox Kiosks

5 Jun, 2012 By: Chris Tribbey

Family Dollar Stores has inked a multiyear agreement with Redbox parent Coinstar to bring DVD kiosks to some of its 7,200-plus stores in the United States.

“As Family Dollar continues to broaden its assortment and increase relevancy to our customer, Redbox is a natural addition to our growth initiatives,” said Michael Bloom, president and COO for Family Dollar. “The Redbox kiosk is the definition of convenience for movie and game rentals and will provide value, convenience and additional reasons for customers to visit Family Dollar stores more often.”

Maria Stipp, chief customer officer of Coinstar, added: “Redbox is proud to be located at Family Dollar retail destinations and to extend our footprint in places where America shops. A key component to our success is our retail partners who help us bring consumers greater access to movies and games at a low price.”

In mid-May Coinstar had announced it would add 2,400 new kiosks combined at CVS, Dollar General and Family Dollar convenience stores in 2012, including 35% locations with dualkiosks.
