DEG Expands Internal Committees12 Oct, 2012 By: Erik Gruenwedel
DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group Oct. 12 said it is expanding the scope of its re-named media and content operations committee (formerly supply chain committee) to include the digital supply side of the home entertainment industry.
The aim of the media and content operations committee (MCOC) is to promote efficiency in the physical and digital supply chain space through best practices, education and establishing standards. The committee will continue to be chaired by Larry Wilk, VP of operations and strategy, The Walt Disney Studios, and is co-chaired by Ellen Goodridge, VP, global digital operations and product development, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
The DEG also established a vendor advisory council (VAC) to better educate and identify new means for creating efficiencies in the supply chain. The VAC will meet each quarter with the MCOC group to address topics such as implementation of digital standards, disc to digital, UltraViolet, second screen, synergy with physical and digital, storage solutions, among other issues.
John Crosier, SVP of digital architecture and delivery, Cinram, was named VAC chair. In this role Crosier will help the DEG evangelize the group’s initiatives, including acting as a conduit between the VAC and MCOC to which they report.
“Given his expertise in the digital entertainment supply chain, John is uniquely qualified to lead the [VAC],” Wilk said. “We are grateful to John for the time and effort he’s put into our digital initiatives and know he’ll work closely with MCOC and help educate DEG members on the digital supply chain.”
Those interested in participating in the VAC should reach out to the DEG office for information.
