The scene of the crash.

An 86-year-old woman July 19 accidentally drove her car into the front of Video Quest in Joliet, Ill., which was closed at the time. There were no injuries to the unidentified driver who was able to drive her vehicle home, according to local authorities.

The accident, which was captured on video on the store’s surveillance camera, occurred at around 8:30 a.m. local time. Joliet Police Commander Alan Roechner said the woman accidently put the car into drive instead of reverse.

Joliet resident Steve Broadway, who was putting gas into his car, said he heard a loud noise and saw the car inside the storefront.

“I heard the glass, then I saw the lady in the store,” Broadway told BugleNewspapers.com. “She thought she was going in reverse and she went forward. She made it a drive-thru.”

Video Quest is owned by Tom Hannah, a longtime member of the Entertainment Merchants Association. Hannah, who posted the crash video on YouTube, was not available for comment regarding damages to the store.
