Image Entertainment Nov. 4 has signed a home entertainment distribution deal with indie Drafthouse Films, the distribution unit of Alamo Drafthouse Cinema.
Financial terms of the packaged media, digital, television and video-on-demand agreement for new and catalog titles signed at the American Film Market in Santa Monica, Calif., were not disclosed.
Among its portfolio of eclectic films, Drafthouse said it acquired the North American rights to Belgian crime drama Bullhead — the country’s 2012 Oscar Best Foreign Language Film nominee — and Danish comedy Clown. Other titles include SXSW favorite The FP and 3D restoration of 1980s underground hit Comin’ at Ya!
The deal was completed in part by Mark Ward, VP of acquisitions with Chatsworth, Calif.-based Image.
Drafthouse, along with Alamo Drafthouse, Mondo, Fantastic Fest (film festival) and Badass Digest, comprise the Alamo Drafthouse brand.
The announcement included naming James Shapiro, former executive director of sales planning and acquisitions with Anchor Bay Entertainment, as Drafthouse’s new COO.
