The same year Heather Graham pulled off funny/hot in box office hit The Hangover, the underrated actress added the adjective “goofy nerd” to her resume in the 2009 black comedy ExTerminators.

Graham plays Alex, a hapless number cruncher who comes home early — after being fired for not giving into the advances of her company’s auditor (Sam Lloyd, who plays Ted on TV’s “Scrubs”) — to find her loser boyfriend tapping another woman.

Convinced she has relationship issues, Alex attends an anger management class, where she befriends Stella (always-funny Jennifer Coolidge from American Pie and Legally Blonde) and Nikki (Amber Heard from Zombieland and Pineapple Express) — two women not afraid to tackle issues beyond their own.

Stella owns and operates a pest control business solo after she drove a car through the storefront window, killing her embezzler husband. Tired of leering glances and related inappropriate behavior from her dentist boss, oral hygienist Nikki gives notice by delivering a large cleaning instrument into the man’s privates.

When the trio inadvertently kills a girlfriend’s (Joey Lauren Adams from Chasing Amy and TV’s “United States of Tara”) abusive husband by ramming him and his car off a cliff — the transformation from hunting insects and pests to assholes is complete.

Of course, unexplained deaths soon bring official scrutiny (and a new love interest for Alex) in the form of Dan (Matthew Settle from TV’s “Gossip Girl,”), the police detective assigned to investigate the rash demise of the local scourge.
