Hulu Will Charge, News Corp. Exec Says

22 Oct, 2009 By: Billy Gil

Studio-owned free streaming site Hulu will eventually charge fees, according to a News Corp. executive, The Associated Press reported.

News Corp.'s president and COO Chase Carey, said at a conference in New York that Hulu could start charging subscription fees as early as 2010, as the site has struggled to earn revenue off its ad-supported model. News Corp. co-owns the site with NBC Universal, The Walt Disney Co. and Providence Equity Partners. News Corp. also owns 20th Century Fox.

Last month News Corp. chairman Ruper Murdoch said the company was thinking of charging for Hulu but said that no decision had been made yet, the AP reported.
