Hulu Gets New CFO28 Oct, 2013 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Elaine Paul comes from the Walt Disney Co. (and Hulu co-owner), where she was SVP of corporate strategy.
Hulu has named Elaine Paul its new CFO, replacing Tom Fuelling, who helped establish the online streaming service’s finances since his arrival in 2007.
Paul comes from The Walt Disney Co., where she was SVP of corporate strategy. Hulu is co-owned by Disney, 21st Century Fox and Comcast.
Paul’s appointment underscores ongoing management changes at Hulu since the arrival of new CEO Mike Hopkins and departure of Hulu co-founder and CEO Jason Kilar. It also highlights Disney (Fox’s) more assertive efforts behind the scenes since committing $700 million in funding to Hulu and subscription video-on-demand service Hulu Plus.
Indeed, Paul was involved in Disney’s original investment in Hulu in 2009.
At Disney, she led various acquisitions, new business initiatives and strategic investments. Paul previously served as VP of business development for the Walt Disney Internet Group. Elaine received her MBA from the Harvard Business School and earned a degree in economics from Stanford University.
“I am confident that her depth of experience and financial and strategic prowess will no doubt add incredible value to this team as we continue to work together to build the best product for our customers (users, content owners and advertisers),” Hopkins wrote in a blog post.
