Hulu Gets 10 Jim Henson TV Shows, Including ‘Fraggle Rock’

The subscription video-on-demand service strikes streaming deal with Henson distributor Gaiam Vivendi Entertainment

Hulu Aug. 22 launched a channel featuring 10 children’s TV shows from “Sesame Street” creator Jim Henson, including “Fraggle Rock.”

The programs were obtained in an agreement with Gaiam Vivendi Entertainment, which has North American home entertainment rights to Henson content.

Hulu, along with Amazon Prime Instant Video, continue to up children’s content in an effort to remain competitive with Netflix in the burgeoning streaming family home entertainment market.

The Henson titles are available on Hulu.com and Hulu Plus, the online aggregator’s subscription video-on-demand service.

The 10 programs include 96 episodes of “Fraggle Rock,” about a fun-loving subterranean community of creatures; 13 episodes of “Fraggle Rock: Animated”; one episode of “Jim Henson’s Play-Along-Video”; 32 episodes of “Mopatop’s Shop”; 26 episodes of “Jim Henson’s Animal Show with Stinky and Jake”; 40 episodes of “The Hoobs”; 13 episodes of “Mother Goose Stories”; 13 episodes of “Secret Life of Toys”; 40 episodes of “Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss”; and 26 episodes of “Construction Site.”
